Matthew McClendon
I design systems and write about the structures that shape how people think, decide, and act.
Much of my work focuses on decision environments where AI assists human judgment, surfacing evidence, confidence, and context so experts can make better decisions.
I build 0→1 products that restore clarity in complex systems and create environments where human expertise and machine intelligence work together.
Amid the Noise is where I explore those ideas through systems thinking, design leadership, and applied research.

ABOUT MATTHEW
I create systems that make the human experience feel lighter, clearer, and more possible. Every project begins with a simple question: what is the ground truth of how people actually move through the world? Once that truth is named, design becomes a way of restoring coherence where life has grown confusing or hostile.
For years, I have worked at the edges of software, data, and civic life, reshaping environments that frustrate ordinary people. In software, my work removes friction so people can focus on what matters rather than fight the tools meant to help them. In public systems, I look for where dignity has slipped out of view and design paths that bring people back into the center.
I thrive in ambiguity. High stakes do not intimidate me. They clarify the responsibility. My role is to see the pattern, steady the signal, and build structures that endure because they tell the truth about human needs.
Much of my current work lives inside the HARMONIC Framework, a family of methods and patents devoted to collaborative intelligence and the architecture of systems that listen before they act. The ambition is always the same. Elevate the human experience by honoring the reality of it.
If the path forward calls for empathy, compassion, and a genuine desire to change the world, I am ready to walk into it with you.
The STARTUP SERIES
I’ve spent my career moving between true startups and enterprise teams built to run like startups, carrying companies through the turbulence of early growth and into Series B exits. The Startup Series reflects those lessons in practice—how ideas take shape, how founders earn trust, where growth defines identity, and where things most often go wrong. These essays are written to help founders and builders recognize the patterns early and chart a steadier course.
